Depart Cape Town on one of the two major highways of South Africa named after the two Gentlemen who guided us out of apartheid and into Democracy. It takes around 40 min to leave the suburbs of Cape Town and reach the rolling, vine covered foothills of the Cape Fold Mountain range which frames the Cape wine region. Stop in Stellenbosch to enjoy the protected Cape Dutch architecture while you shop, enjoy galleries and one of the many little cafes. Depart town through the University of Stellenbosch and head to one or two vineyards for wine tasting, cheese tasting or chocolate pairing. From there we head towards Franschhoek for lunch and a wonder through the historic town. Here you have the options of another wine tasting, in a valley famous for its MCC (champagne) chardonnays and Syrah, or of a beer tasting, brandy tasting or a grappa tasting. We then return to Cape Town past the Groot Drakenstein Prison where Pres. Nelson Mandela spent the last two years of his time in prison before returning back to your Hotel.
